Frequently Asked Questions

How old does my child have to be to start attending the nursery? Our recommendation is that your child is at least six weeks old prior to bringing him or her to the Valdosta Kids Nursery. But, really it is as soon as you feel comfortable. If you would like to attend the adult worship services prior to your child being six weeks old, you are welcome to sit in the worship center. We have volunteers that have worked with infants and children for decades and are very equipped and trained to make your child feel safe and apart of our church family. You can know that they will be loved and protected.

What should we bring with us? If you have a nursery aged child we suggest: diaper bag, juice, an extra change of clothes, bottle of milk, and whatever special blanket (toy, etc.) that would make your little one feel comfortable. If you have a school aged child we ask that they leave toys in the car, we will have plenty to do. Also, we encourage all children to bring their Bibles to church, but if you don’t have one don’t worry — we have one just for you!

Where is the Valdosta Kids Nursery? The Valdosta Kids Nursery is located in the Children’s Building, on your left as you enter. There will be a greeter at the front door to show you where to go, or to give you a quick tour.

How will you contact me if my child needs me? When you register your child through Kidcheck.com they will ask for your cell phone number and this will be how you check them in every week. Our administrators will have access to this cell phone number and will call you if needed.

How does Valdosta Kids keep parents involved in their child’s experience at church? We believe the best way for parents to be involved in what their child is learning is to become a part of the team that teaches your child. Each week, volunteers do everything from greeting families to teaching and leading kids in worship. So you will be asked to be apart of this ministry team.

How can I volunteer in Valdosta Kids? There are many positions available where you can serve. These include greeting families, teaching, co-teaching, leading music and many more. For more information on how you can be involved, call us at 229-242-0484 and we can sit down over some coffee and see how God has uniquely gifted you to work with children.

What are the options for children who attend more than one service? In addition to attending Valdosta Kids First Look or 2:52 Basic (at 8:44am), there is also Sunday School (at 9:45am), and an additional class at 11:00 am. All three use different curriculum and therefore have different goals and objectives. Each different class is staffed with different volunteers. So if your child needs to stay for all three hours they will not experience the same thing twice.

Do you provide assistance for children with special needs? Yes. Our goal is to mainstream your child in our classrooms and if needed we will provide an individual helper. All children and families are welcome!
